Mission Statement
Kaliegh's Dream Foundation was established in 2013 to honor Kaliegh Ottis and establish her legacy. Her life and her dreams were just starting to be realized. It is the goal of the Foundation to help make the dreams of young women and men come to fruition by providing scholarships to help them reach their goal of earning a college degree. Kaliegh had a "SPARKLE" about her. One of her favorite sayings was, "Don't Let Anyone Ever Dull Your Sparkle". We try to look for that "SPARKLE" in each scholarship recipient. Currently we provide annual scholarships to cheerleaders at Lake Mary High School and we started an endowment with the ADPi Foundation that provides scholarships to the young ladies of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at the University of Central Florida and in 2023 in a partnership with the UCF Foundation we started another endowment for the UCF Cheer Team. We also support and volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida, a cause that was very close to Kaliegh's heart. As the Foundation grows we hope to expand our scholarship and grant footprint to many more.
Since 2013 we have raised just over $400,000 and provided grants/scholarships to over 150 students and organizations. Hopefully we are helping them keep their DREAMS alive.
Recipients
Gabby Edwards - Alpha Delta Pi/UCF
Cassie Underwood - Lake Mary HS/UCF
McKenzie Black - Lake Mary HS/Samford - Receiving the Kaliegh Ottis Memorial Scholarship was one of the biggest honors I could ever be awarded. I remember Kaliegh from high school, and although we were never close I knew she was someone I could always count on, simply because she was that sweet of a girl. She lit up every room she walked into and left everyone she spoke to with a smile. She served as an encouragement for my faith and inspired me to live each moment out joyously. Thanks to the scholarship I received in her name, I was able to attend Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama, my dream school, where my faith has flourished and my joys have multiplied. Thank you Kaliegh for being a light in this world for me and for many others; you truly are an inspiration to all.
Isaac Urichko - Lake Mary HS/FSU - When I applied for the scholarship my senior year it was about so much more than the award. I was honored to be honored to be recognized in the same light as Kaliegh. The application reminded me of memories we experienced together and the way I will remember her for the rest of my life. The Ottis family has extended these qualities of kindness, generosity, and involvement to me with every interaction. I can only hope to carry on her legacy by never forgetting the way he carried a sparkle with her everywhere she went. Thank you to the Ottis family for continuing Kaliegh's dream.
Travis Demint - Northland/UF - "On the death of a friend, we should consider that the fates through confidence have devolved on us the task of a double living, that we have henceforth to fulfill the promise of our friend's life also, in our own, to the world." - Henry David Thoreau The Kaliegh Ottis Memorial Scholarship has meant much more to me than just extra money for college, it has given me the opportunity to enact Thoreau's idea. Although we can never get Kaliegh back, she can continue to live on through her friends and family who will never forget her. This scholarship allows me to help continue her memory. I will never forget the impact Kaliegh has had on my life, so I will do whatever I can to fulfill the promise of her life to the world.
Giuliana Rossi - Alpha Delta Pi/UCF - Winning the Kaliegh Ottis Memorial Scholarship didn't come with monetary value. It was more than the financial aid, I got emotionally involved in all that Kaliegh stood for in life. Needless to say it was an honor to be awarded something in her name. She had qualities that people work their whole lives to gain - her beauty never overshadowed her intelligence, her generosity never overshadowed her personal spiritual growth, but most of all....her purity never overshadowed her sparkle. My favorite thing about her was how much she invested her heart into charity and I will never forget that. Receiving her scholarship allowed me to take the summer classes I needed to graduate, which turned into a once in a lifetime opportunity with a job after graduation. There is no doubt in my mind that it was Kaliegh sending miracles my way. She has lived on in so many people and the Ottis family along with Mary Clark have made a difference in my life in more ways than I could put into words. Kaliegh knows no one will be dulling my sparkle :)
Emily Knapp - Alpha Delta Pi/UCF - When I got the news that I received the Kaliegh Ottis Memorial Scholarship I could not muster up any words. The only thing that came was tears. Tears of gratefulness and tears of sorrow. In my 21 years on this earth I have experienced a lot of tragedy, and in the midst of all my tragedy there is always a light and this scholarship was the light for me in this tragedy. Coming from a single parent home, I knew that paying for college was going to be a struggle but I would have to make it happen. Then when I decided to join a sorority, I knew I could not imagine my life without Alpha Delta Pi or the women I have met through it. Kaliegh always talked about how much she loved ADPi, and I know why. It's not something you can explain to someone, nor is it a feeling that happens all at once. It's a connection you have with this community of people that truly love you. I didn't know who I was when I came into college and I can truly say joining ADPi was a life changer for me. It gave me everything I didn't have in high school and it filled voids I didn't know I had. When I realized that I might have to give all of this up because of money my heart was broken. This scholarship helped me to realize that this sorority is worth fighting for and it helped get me back on track with the monetary aspect. I wish that I didn't have to receive this and Kaliegh was still with us, but God chose her to impact my life in the most amazing way. She is still changing lives and she will stay with me forever. I will continue my time in Alpha Delta Pi and I will continue to spread Kaliegh's message of joy to everyone I meet.
Mary Clark - Alpha Delta Pi/UCF - I was so incredibly honored to announce that I was chosen as a recipient of the Kaliegh Ottis Memorial Scholarship. Words cannot express how much this generous gift means to my family and me. Since the moment that I lost my best friend, the Ottis family has taken me in as one of their own, helped me heal, helped me grow, and showed me the meaning of true selflessness. The support this family provides to my sisters and me is incredible, and it is clear why Kaliegh grew up to be the amazing young woman she was. This past year I have seen the legacy that Kaliegh has left behind. Whether it was the 1500 people who took part in her Celebration of Life or the scattered individuals who have shared their stories of Kaliegh, it is clear that she truly left a little sparkle in everyone's heart. While receiving this scholarship is so incredibly bittersweet, I couldn't think of a better way to honor her name than to be able to continue my journey in Alpha Delta Pi at UCF and exemplify her sparkle in everything I do. In no sense would I ever say that Kaliegh's death was a good thing, but I am a firsthand witness that incredible blessings can come from a heartbreaking tragedy. Your name will never be forgotten, and your sparkle will never be dulled, Kaliegh Ottis.

Kailee Vickaryous - Lake Mary HS/UF - There are certain people in this world who leave a piece of themselves in everyone they meet. In my case, I never actually got the opportunity to meet Kaliegh, yet her sparkle still resonates in her name. When someone says Kaliegh Ottis, everyone in the room lights up. Her sunshine truly radiates beyond her presence, and it's because she gave everyone she met something to remember. Not only do people commemorate her as a special person, but they always share how she had this incredible genuine ability to make people feel special. The world needs that kind of love. I consider Kaliegh one of my greatest role models, for she has shown me how selflessness and positivity go such a long way. I'm so blessed to be one the infinite amount of people she has influenced, and I am beyond thankful for this scholarship. My goal in life it to make life better for other people like she has. I hope that in my years to come at the University of Florida and in the future I can make her proud.

Zachary Nash - Lake Mary HS/FSU - I am so honored and humbled to win this scholarship. Kaliegh contained the qualities that many people couldn't do in a lifetime. She would always light up the whole world when she walked into the room. Her glow just cast happiness to everybody she came across, and that is just so unique. It's kind of shocking winning this because I know Kaliegh is twice the person I'll ever be, but I am very thankful. I hope this scholarship will make others remember the great things Kaliegh accomplished I such little time and how she made the world a better place.
Garrett Gile - Lake Mary HS/Yale - Thank you for awarding me this scholarship. I am honored to be selected as a recipient, and I am proud to represent a foundation dedicated to such a wonderful person. Although I never had the opportunity to meet Kaliegh, I remember seeing her around school as a freshman and noticing how happy and positive she looked.
Sydney Gill - Northland/FSU - I am so honored to have received the Kaliegh Ottis Memorial Scholarship. Knowing Kaliegh personally was such a privilege that I will forever cherish. She was an amazing mentor and friend throughout middle school and high school for me that I can never forget. This scholarship has been an aid in helping me attend FSU and I couldn't be more grateful for that. Kaliegh has definitely left her mark on the world an will never be forgotten; and I hope through this scholarship I will be able to help carry on her legacy and Sparkle up at FSU.
